JIN RUOXI

Biography

Jin Ruoxi, born in 1997 in Harbin, China, is a Paris-based cross-disciplinary artist who received her diploma in 2024 from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, studying under the atelier of Guillaume Paris. Her concept-driven installation practice engages with unconventional forms, integrating performative and theatrical elements where the notion of presence lingers, shifts, and merges with fictional narratives. Props, tools, and found objects are often integrated into her work, repurposed through malfunction or disuse, evoking vulnerability across physical, emotional, economic, and political dimensions. The original sovereignty of historical contexts or objects is disrupted and reconfigured, giving rise to a parallel universe where the obsolete, uncertain, or incomplete transcends material limitations, opening a portal to new meanings and redefined legitimacy. Coming from a multi-religious family and a neurologist parent, she explores the interplay between purpose and disrepair, as well as the dichotomy of existence and void, interrogating the permeable thresholds between perceptible and perceivable reality.

In 2025, Jin was one of the six laureates in the second edition of ‘Mennour Emergence’ programme. She was also the laureate of the 2024 collections entry program selected by les Amis des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Her solo exhibitions include: ‘REGRETS’ at Beaux-Arts de Paris (2024). Recent group exhibitions include: ‘Mennour Emergence #2’ at Mennour, Paris (2025); ‘L’art et la vie et inversement’ at Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2025); ‘Projet Église des Trinitaires’ at Église des Trinitaires de Metz (2025); ‘Crush’ at Beaux-Arts de Paris (2024); ‘Unique objet de mon ressentiment’ at Galerie de L’IESA (2024); ‘Souvenirs de jeunesse’ at Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2024); and ‘Répétition Générale’ at Galerie du Crous, Paris (2024).
